Destiny Shader System 2.0 - Concept

I have been playing Destiny 2 since it’s release back in 2017 and is one of my favorite games of this generation.  The gunplay, user interface and leveling system, in my opinion, give the player a lot of flexibility and customization in regards to the style of play.  However, one thing I always thought Destiny was lacking was the ability to create a character I was visually proud of.  Showing off your accomplishments as well as trying to "stand out" is a large part of the social aspect of the game.

The current system gives the player access to a library of color combination swatches, called shaders, that generate a color scheme that matches the predetermined masking pattern of the armor set you have equipped.  You are allowed to customize each piece of armor separately...Helmet, Gauntlets, Weapons, etc., but you do not have the ability to customize that piece past what the shader system allows.  I saw this as an opportunity to design the system to give the player the maximum amount of choice when it comes to both material of the armor as well as the color scheme.
